Q: What is the Mercedes-Benz Silver Star Preservation Class?
This class is for cars 25 years old (The model year 1998) or more senior, which are mainly original and have been unrestored since the new year. It is intended for driver-quality cars that withstand the ravages of time, climate, and daily driving. It is not intended for “Trailer Queens”-for those we have a Show Class- nor for rusty and dirty barn finds that do not operate properly and have not been on the road for several years.

Q: Why should I enter for Silver Star Preservation Class?

This classification is designed to formally recognize original cars that meet the defined set of standards by presenting the owner with a certificate commemorating the event and displaying a photo and pertinent data suitable for framing. It can also add to the provenance of your car whenever one intends to sell or insure it. The certificate awards the owners who have treated their pride and joy gently over the years and have resisted the temptation to restore. As the saying goes," they are only original once," and as we all know, you cannot regain originality! (Source: mbca.org)

Q: Who will be Judging the Entrants?

Each Silver Star entrant will be given a Silver Star Preservation Classification Score Sheet and be instructed on how to complete it. The cars are self-judged by the entrant following the form. On the record, the owner informs the judges which aspects of the car are entirely original and which parts have been altered over time. The judge, assigned by the section, will review the completed form with the entrant, evaluating each aspect of the car. If the vehicle has earned enough points to be certified, the reviewers verify the findings and initial the form. A digital photo of the entrant’s car in JPEG format is taken at the show. The completed classification form and the image are forwarded to the MBCA National Business Office. The MBCA National Business Office will create and send to the owner an official Silver Star Certificate formally declaring the car to have met the Silver Star Preservation Class standards. The owner may also purchase a specially designed badge from the MBCA National Business Office.

Cincinnati Section Board members Mark and Austin will be serving as Reviewers for this event.

Cincinnati Concours - Countryside Tour

This is not a Mercedes club sanctioned or planned event, however last year some of our members met up and participated in this scenic driving tour. It’s a great way to see some amazing cars being driven while you drive your own car. An added benefit is all the up close and personal time you get with all the cars and attendees in Mariemont Square on Wooster Pike while everyone waits to depart for the drive. This event is planned to end early enough so there will be plenty of time for you to also attend the Hangar party (another concours ticketed event) if you desire.

Old Friends Farm - Retired Race horses - Scenic drive, lunch & Farm tour

Our day will start with a scenic drive that departs from Ft Mitchel KY to our first destination, Old Friends Farm in Georgetown KY. We toured this farm years ago during one of our bourbon tour long weekends. It’s located in Georgetown KY. Old Friends Farm is an amazing organization that saves retired race horses from basically being relegated to a hard/miserable life after the financial and physical performances for their owners - Last time, the stories told about some of the horses and where they were rescued from were eye opening. The farm personnel (many are volunteers!) do amazing work for these horses so they can live out retirement they deserve. After the farm tour we will proceed to our lunch venue, Fava’s Restaurant. It has been family owned since 1910 and is located in historic downtown Georgetown. For those interested in drinking responsibly, they do serve cans of beer and wine, but not have a full bar

This place is even more of a gem because the entire $15 entry [CASH ONLY] fee goes to a non-profit charity called Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK). HONK is a non-profit organization with over 30 years of success guiding families on the path to homeownership. HONK provides affordable housing and homeownership opportunities through a lease-to-own program, offering faith, education, and support to lower-income residents of Northern Kentucky. https://honkhomes.org/

As a bonus, we have invited the MBCA Bluegrass Stars and Indiana Crossroads sections to join us so we can meet and socialize with fellow members from surrounding sections.

Q: What is Mercedes-Benz Silver Star Preservation Class?
This class is for cars 25 years old (The model year 1997) or more senior that are mainly original and have been unrestored since new. It is intended for driver-quality cars that have withstood the ravages of time, climate, and daily driving.

Our Board members, Tyler, Mark, and Austin, will be serving as Reviewers for this event.

Application forms will be provided.
