Old Friends Farm - Retired Race horses - Scenic drive, lunch & Farm tour

  • MBCA | Cincinnati United States (map)

Our day will start with a scenic drive that departs from Ft Mitchel KY to our first destination, Old Friends Farm in Georgetown KY. We toured this farm years ago during one of our bourbon tour long weekends. It’s located in Georgetown KY. It’s a beautiful location and we will have a guided tour of the farm and with the opportunity to meet quite a few of the retired thoroughbred race horses. Old Friends Farm is an amazing organization that saves retired race horses from basically being relegated to a hard/miserable life after the financial and physical performances for their owners - Last time, the stories told about some of the horses and where they were rescued from were eye opening. The farm personnel (many are volunteers!) do amazing work for these horses so they can live out retirement they deserve. After the farm tour we will proceed to our lunch venue, Fava’s Restaurant. It has been family owned since 1910 and is located in historic downtown Georgetown. For those interested in drinking responsibly, they do serve cans of beer and wine, but not have a full bar
